ESSENTIAL OILS DO NOT NEED TO COST AN ARM AND A LEG!
Many who have been in the shop over the summer know how much I love Copaiba Oil.  A recent study quoted by the National Insistent of Health  demonstrated that one of the major components of the oil is a potent anti-inflammatory - one of the strongest anti-inflammatory essential oils; it is also gentle - well absorbed by almost all people.    Gentle, reduces inflammation, well absorbed.....Thinking Hemorrhoids anyone???  Copaiba has also been used for generations as effective pain reliever and wound healer too.  I keep it in my purse at all times.  This oil is a perfect example of my favorite lesson: Oils need NOT be expensive to be powerful.  At $10 a bottle this packs a punch!!!

BACK TO LICE?  NOT WITH TEA TREE OIL!
Back-To-School & Ultra-Resistant Lice is in the news.....resistant to conventional treatment that is. According to the Today show, "head lice, long the bane of parents and kids across the country, are becoming a much worse problem: Strains of the pesky parasites that are resistant to most over-the-counter treatments have now been found in at least 25 states." (http://www.today.com/health/super-strains-lice-spread-25-states-new-report-finds-t37631)
Essential Oils yet again might be the answer!  One study by the NIH showed tea tree oil was effective against head lice with 100 % mortality at 30 min and 1 % concentration.   (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22847279)

KEEP YOUR COOL!
Did you know that you can extend the shelf life of your EOs by up to 5 years just by keeping them refrigerated?  Many oils, like citrus, tea tree, and lavender oxidize quickly and do not last more than a year if kept in home closets.  Simply put them in a Tupperware-style container and pop them in the fridge to keep them fresh and extend their usefulness!  At Josiah's Oils, we cold-store your oils from receipt from the distiller, so they are as fresh as possible the minute you get them.  No sitting on shelves or in a storage room as they would degrade and not be a fresh as possible for your family!

Essential Oils as Insect Repellents

Ever wonder which essential oil repels which insect effectively?  Here's a list of the most common pests and their best essential oil repellents!  Always dilute essential oils before using on the skin; make your own sprays, or diffuse these oils too to help repel bugs.
Mosquitoes:
  1. Citronella (also repels Beatles, moths, fleas and ants)
  2. Rose Geranium
  3. Clove (although is highly irritating to the skin)
  4. Eucalyptus
  5. Lemongrass (use with caution on the skin)
  6. Peppermint
  7. Tea tree
  8. Lemon Eucalyptus
Ticks:
Rose Geranium!
Ticks operate mostly by using their sense of smell - awaiting the victims by scent - so Rose Geranium is a powerful repellent!
Ants:
  1. Citronella
  2. Eucalyptus,
  3. Cinnamon,
  4. Clove (again use caution if using on the skin!)
  5. Peppermint, and
  6. Lemon
Spiders:
  1. Citronella
  2. Rose Geranium
  3. Citrus Oils
  4. Peppermint
  5. Cinnamon (use caution on the skin)
  6. Tea Tree
  7. Clove (again use caution on the skin!)
  8. Lemongrass
To make a Spider Repellent Spray use a 4 ounce spray bottle; add 40 drops peppermint and fill the rest with witch hazel. (use caution on delicate surfaces)
At Josiah's Oils, we also offer a complete concentrated Insect Away Blend to make your own spray!
