Certain essential oils like Cinnamon, Clove, Tea Tree, & Thyme for example have excellent anti-microbial capabilities (see links below for studies). Many of us would rather use plant-based cleaners in our homes for our family's optimal health. Below are some easy-to use recipes we have developed at Josiah's Oils!
1. ADD 1 - 2 ounces of Concentrated Anti-Germ Cleaner per 24 + ounce cleaning spray to clean kitchen and bathrooms, add drops to baking soda mixed with vinegar to make a scrub. Add 2 TBS of this cleaner to two cup of vinegar & MIX WELL to make wipes out of paper towels. 2. Add 20 to 40 drops of our Cinnamon & Thyme Cleaner Oil to 1 Teaspoon of Castile (or other natural soap) and add to an 16 oz spray bottle for a cleaning spray (liquid can be white vinegar). I love this for windows and the shower. I use this blend to clean my automatic dishwasher weekly running about 6 drops with white vinegar on rinse cycle. 3. When washing your produce, add about 4-10 drops of Veggie Wash to the bowl (softer fruits will absorb flavor so use caution). I like to add 1 cup of white vinegar and a 1/4 cup of baking soda and let soak for about 15 minutes before rinsing! 4. If you LOVE Tea Tree & Lemon Oils, try our Concentrated DIY Household Cleaner! Tree Essential Oil can help to fight all three categories of infectious organisms (bacteria, fungi and viruses). One of Tea Tree oil's most amazing properties is its ability to kill mold and mildew on contact. This is what makes it an idealtub and shower cleaner. A plus is that the fumes you inhale while showering will clear congestion and heal your lungs. The Tea Tree oil is also a powerful insect repellent, making this cleaner serve a dual purpose of keeping pests out of your home. My favorite recipe - Simply fill the bottle with the following: 2 TBS of white vinegar; 1 tps baking soda 60-100 drops of the concentrated blend [30 drops for window cleaning] top with water to 24 oz bottle For general cleaning as these oils are powerful on their own - you can add 5-10 drops per ounce of water into your spray bottle and clean with confidence. Laundry - This cleaner can also be add to the wash for cleaner clothing. Simply add 5-10 drops to your liquid detergent and wash as usual. Wipes - Add 2 TBS of this cleaner to two cup of vinegar & MIX WELL to make wipes out of paper towels.
