In order to understand how CBG might affect the body, you must first understand a little bit about the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a newly-discovered network within the human body which functions to maintain the body’s systems in homeostasis, or a state of balance.
In discovering the ECS, researchers also discovered that the human body produces its own cannabinoids known as “endocannabinoids.” The ECS is runs throughout the human body, including the nervous system, digestive system, and immune system to help regulate:
CBG - the little known cannabinoid. It is rare as it has a concentration of only .2% in the hemp leaf. Thankfully efforts to isolate CBG to a higher concentration for consumption have been successful. CBG is not meant to replace CBD products, but to complement them due to the low occurrence of CBG in any Full or Broad spectrum CBD procust. It is an expensive derivative due to its rarity. "Studies indicate that CBG may have therapeutic potential in treating neurologic disorders (e.g., Huntington disease, Parkinson disease, and multiple sclerosis) and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as having antibacterial activity. " https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33168643/ Moreover, a "study has provided evidence that CBD and CBG formulated appropriately exhibit anti-inflammatory activity. Our observations suggest that these non-psychoactive cannabinoids may have beneficial effects in treating diseases characterised by airway inflammation." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34082108/ Science has identified cannabinoid receptors in our GI system. "The endocannabinoid system (ECS) comprises of endocannabinoid ligands, enzymes for synthesis and degradation of such ligands, and receptors. This system is widely distributed in the gastrointestinal tract, where phytocannabinoids exert potent effects, particularly under pathological (i.e., inflammatory) conditions. " Importantly CBG has show great promise in treating these conditions and is shown to be at its greatest effectiveness when combined with CBD. Mose studies can be found on our website and we are here to answer your questions about our newest product!* You can find our newest product here: CBG 900 MG CAPSULES (We had a limited number of CBG supplements made in our first production, so supplies are limited)

According to a recent article in FORBES CBD may emerge as a source of relief from many of the negative effects of Covid including lung inflammation and systemic exaggerated inflammation, as well as acting as a natural anti-viral. Read excerpts here*:
"While researchers are exploring many different possibilities in combating COVID-19, some researchers are looking into whether cannabis or cannabis derived CBD might offer benefits for those suffering from severe forms of this infection. Interestingly, there have been several different ways researchers have suggested CBD might help, including its ability to reduceACE2 expression and pro-inflammatory cytokine production to fight lung inflammation, and it’s potential as an antiviral. But few studies have tested these theories with actual experimentation. Now new evidence is adding support to the theory that cannabis derived CBD may help those suffering from the severe lung inflammation that occurs in more serious cases of COVID-19. The study from researchers at Augusta University in Georgia suggests that CBD may positively impact ARDS or acute respiratory distress syndrome - a dangerous symptom in COVID-19 caused by an overactive inflammatory response. This is sometimes referred to as a ‘cytokine storm’. The authors of the study explain that “currently, other than supportive measures, there is no definitive cure for ARDS, illustrating the urgent need for creative and effective therapeutic modalities to treat this complex condition.” ... Researchers on the study say that CBD could play an immunotherapeutic role in treating severe respiratory viral infections like COVID-19, based on the present findings. “The current data support the notion that the anti-inflammatory function of CBD may reduce cytokine storm and mitigate the effects of exaggerated inflammation” they explain. They add that “considering all potential regulatory effects of CBD as well as the vast distribution of endocannabinoid system in the body, it is plausible that CBD may be used as a therapeutic candidate in the treatment of various inflammatory conditions including COVID-19 and other virus-induced ARDS.” Read the article in its entirely here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/emilyearlenbaugh/2020/07/15/cbd-for-coronavirus-new-study-adds-evidence-for-cannabis-as-covid-19-treatment/#6f35bd3d382d Josiah's Oils was not a participant in this study. Certain essential oils like Cinnamon, Clove, Tea Tree, & Thyme for example have excellent anti-microbial capabilities (see links below for studies). Many of us would rather use plant-based cleaners in our homes for our family's optimal health. Below are some easy-to use recipes we have developed at Josiah's Oils!
1. ADD 1 - 2 ounces of Concentrated Anti-Germ Cleaner per 24 + ounce cleaning spray to clean kitchen and bathrooms, add drops to baking soda mixed with vinegar to make a scrub. Add 2 TBS of this cleaner to two cup of vinegar & MIX WELL to make wipes out of paper towels. 2. Add 20 to 40 drops of our Cinnamon & Thyme Cleaner Oil to 1 Teaspoon of Castile (or other natural soap) and add to an 16 oz spray bottle for a cleaning spray (liquid can be white vinegar). I love this for windows and the shower. I use this blend to clean my automatic dishwasher weekly running about 6 drops with white vinegar on rinse cycle. 3. When washing your produce, add about 4-10 drops of Veggie Wash to the bowl (softer fruits will absorb flavor so use caution). I like to add 1 cup of white vinegar and a 1/4 cup of baking soda and let soak for about 15 minutes before rinsing! 4. If you LOVE Tea Tree & Lemon Oils, try our Concentrated DIY Household Cleaner! Tree Essential Oil can help to fight all three categories of infectious organisms (bacteria, fungi and viruses). One of Tea Tree oil's most amazing properties is its ability to kill mold and mildew on contact. This is what makes it an idealtub and shower cleaner. A plus is that the fumes you inhale while showering will clear congestion and heal your lungs. The Tea Tree oil is also a powerful insect repellent, making this cleaner serve a dual purpose of keeping pests out of your home. My favorite recipe - Simply fill the bottle with the following: 2 TBS of white vinegar; 1 tps baking soda 60-100 drops of the concentrated blend [30 drops for window cleaning] top with water to 24 oz bottle For general cleaning as these oils are powerful on their own - you can add 5-10 drops per ounce of water into your spray bottle and clean with confidence. Laundry - This cleaner can also be add to the wash for cleaner clothing. Simply add 5-10 drops to your liquid detergent and wash as usual. Wipes - Add 2 TBS of this cleaner to two cup of vinegar & MIX WELL to make wipes out of paper towels. They found that adding this essential oil to lotions at only .5% was effective! This is great news for those looking for safe relief from skin infections. (Always speak to your doctor.) (Casetti et al 2012)
Remember 1 drop per teaspoon is 1%, so to get to .5% simply add 1 drop per 2 teaspoons of carrier (or lotion). Ninette It is very important to note that all major aromatherapy organizations do not recommend taking oils as supplements unless you are working with a trained professional. Long term damage can result to the esophagus, stomach, and liver. Internally used essential oils can also contradict medications. Essential oils need to be treated with great care. Most essential oils injuries occur when essential oils were used neat (undiluted) or when taken internally.
This is not to say you may never use some safe oils internally. Some oils have been given GRAS status by the FDA. This simply means they are “Generally Regarded as Safe.” *I note that although Hyssop is included by the FDA, I have seen reports of toxicity from that oil and I would not recommend using it internally. The FDA specifically notes that the list does not mean that the oils have been acknowledged as safe as supplements, only that they are considered safe for consumption in historic/commonly-used amounts to flavor foods. We know that many of these GRAS oils can usually be used in safe ways to enhance flavors when cooking (absent allergies or health issues). An example would be adding one or two drops of lemon essential oil to a fatty cooking oil, like coconut. After this you can add your chicken or other protein and have lemon chicken. Note, the drop or two whould be for the entire meal for a family. You can make orange chicken in a similar way. To disperse the flavor however be sure to add the essential oil to the fatty oil in your dish. These GRAs oils can also be used to make a salad dressing. Add a drop or two of grapefruit to 4-8 ounces of olive oil, then add vinegar makes a delicious salad dressing! Honey is another safe “fat” for diluting essential oils as food flavorings. Just remember with flavoring, more isn’t always better. A drop of essential oil in a few ounces of fatty cooking oil or honey usual does the trick! One of my favorite expert books on Clinical Aromatherapy, written by Jane Buckle, PhD, RN (Clinical Aromatherapy – Essential Oils in Healthcare, 2015), agrees that honey is a safer way to use essential oils internally. Indeed, Essential oils can be blended with honey water. Simply mix 1-2 drops of a GRAS essential oil (not hyssop) into 1 tsp. honey, add 6-8 ounces of warm water, and drink. Because essential oils are powerful, I would not necessarily recommend doing this every day, but perhaps from time to time after speaking to your doctor to address a specific concern, such as irritable bowels or to cleanse. Alternatively, enteric-coated gelatin capsules do not release the essential oil until they are in the small intestine. Thus, if working with a medical professional this too can provide a safer way to use essential oils internally. *Use great caution if you may be allergic to an essential oil or a constituent in an essential oil. In such a case do not use the essential oil by way of any route: inhaled, topically or internally. (Note there is a typo in the above image - Yang Ylang should read: Ylang Ylang.) Be sure to take time and learn about the potential for injuries related to misuse of essential oils. This year, the most dominant flu strain infecting people is H3N2. Flu viruses mutate every year, and it's common to see several strains of flu during the same season. A similar strain called H1N1 was responsible for the 1918 flu pandemic, and the 2009 "swine flu" outbreak. “H3N2 is historically the bad actor among influenzas," an expert says. "It's also associated with complications.” (1) We often discuss the anti-viral benefits of essential oils. While I always stress speaking with your doctor, you can and should ask her about essential oils if you may have the flu. Specific to the H3N2 flu virus strain, “antivirals are needed to efficiently control disease progression and virus transmission due to the emergence of drug-resistant viral strains.” In one study, a major component of Turmeric (Rhizoma Curcuma) essential oil, was found to inhibit influenza virus replication showing antiviral activity against the H1N1 and H3N2 influenza A viruses and the influenza B virus. Specifically, the component inhibited the attachment and replication of the virus. It also showed “effective protection against lethal infection and reduced the virus titres in the lung.” “ Our results suggest that [Turmeric essential oil component] may have the potential to be developed as a therapeutic agent alone or in combination with other agents for the treatment of influenza virus infection.” (2) Along with the other essential oils we have addressed such as those in the Germ Fighting Blend, Oregano, Thyme, Tea Tree Oil among others. We see that essential oils can be valuable in the battle against H3N2 influenza by potentially inactivating the virus and minimizing its complications.
