Athlete’s foot germs can live for months nestled in shoes or between the treads of your socks. Once you know you are susceptible to athlete’s foot, you can save yourself a lot of misery by taking steps to avoid reinfection! Did you know that your washing machine is not hot enough to fill this fungus? Here are simple steps to stay safe: 1. By sterilizing your socks after each wearing, you can keep athlete’s foot from coming back or from infecting family members. Spray socks with Germ Fighting Blend before and after wearing – a few drops in the washing machine will work also to avoid spreading the athlete’s foot germs! 2. Spray your shoes with the Germ Fighting Spray. Not only will this kill the germs but it will also kill the odors. You might just keep those gym sneakers longer too. 3. Finally, simply spray the shower floor with the Germ Fighting Spray. Kill the athlete’s foot germs before you get in, especially if you shower at a gym. An added benefit it that inhaling the oils while you shower will also be healing to the lungs. Use these simple, natural steps to healthy feet and say goodbye to the itch forever!!!

Originating in Asia and only coming our way in around 1998, stink bugs can be a real annoyance for many home owners! Killing or injuring the pest can cause it to emit a horrendous odor. These creepy crawlers made their way somehow [likely through a crack] into my basement. I wanted to nip it so I tried our Insect Away when I saw one; I had no idea those guys could run! It hated the essential oils blend and thankfully the MINTY blend is powerful enough to cover the stink scent the bugs emit. So I sprayed around where they had been sighted and I have yet to see another. Will keep you posted! With latest news about the severity and timing of flu this season, fighting bacteria and viruses is on almost everyone’s mind. We see bottles of chemical hand sanitizer selling like hot cakes at the checkout counter. We also see antibacterial hand soaps in schools, offices, homes … just about everywhere. But are these products the safest way to stay healthy? Anti-bacterial products you see on most shelves contain a chlorophenol chemical compound Triclosan. It is an endocrine disruptor and likely interferes with normal functioning of your thyroid hormone and estrogen. It’s associated with allergies and can become contaminated with dioxin, a known carcinogen. No good; right? So what about those waterless "instant" hand sanitizers? Alcohol-based “instant hand sanitizers” contain the active ingredient ethyl alcohol and a list of inactive ingredients lending to a “High Hazard” ranking in the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep database. These inactive ingredients contain toxins such as methylparaben, synthetic fragrance and diazolidinyl urea. Surely we don’t want these products on our largest organ – our skin – whereby they are absorbed quickly into our cells. But we do need protection when we are out and about. It’s simply not realistic to wash with pure soap and warm water as often as needed to avoid a powerful enemy like the flu. Really, who runs to the rest room to wash following every cough or sneeze? Moreover, you’d need to carry your own natural soap with you! Thankfully, there is an alternative; one you can make yourself with a blend of essential oils including sweet smelling cinnamon. An article in The New York Times (”Cinnamon Oil Kills Bacteria”) came to the conclusion that cinnamon oil has potent antiseptic properties. http://www.nytimes.com. In the Times story, a group of surgeons found that a solution made with cinnamon essential oil killed a number of common infections, like streptococcus and MRSA. The solution was as effective as widely used antiseptics – yet natural. This was not the only study of its kind. In fact, another study by French researchers in 2008 had similar results, proving that cinnamon essential oil was effective against Staphylococcus, E. coli and several antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria. The New York Times article noted that even one New Jersey pediatrician recommends homemade hand sanitizer containing essential oils (including oils like cinnamon & clove) over those toxic hand cleaners on the market. Kids are especially sensitive to the chemicals found in those instant hand cleaners and antibacterial soaps! Now you can research recipes and blend together all of the powerful germ fighting oils, but at Josiah’s Oils we have done that for you. We have selected the finest organic essential oils known to fight bacterial, fungi and viruses and blended them so that you need only to add water. This is called our Germ Fighting Blend. Not only is it easy, but is saves money too – our blend works out to be just about $1.00 or less per ounce! You can rest assured that your kids are not routinely absorbing toxins. One warning, people will stop you to ask what that great smell is you’ve just sprayed on your hands. Check out the Germ Fighting Blend at www.JosiahsOils.com. |
